Deadpool in New Marvel Zombies Series

Deadpool Bugle reader ThisGuy has pointed out that preview art on CBR for the new Marvel Zombies series includes a picture of a zombified version of Deadpool. The article doesn't make any mention of Deadpool's role in the series. The new series is set to combine the Marvel Zombieverse and the standard 616 Marvel Universe, but since it is a zombie version of Deadpool it is safe to assume that this is not Deadpool from the main Marvel Universe. Deadpool #2 Reviews

Comic Book Resources - 3.5/5
I've read plenty of Daniel Way comics, and I can't say that I've ever been a fan of his work, but his "Deadpool" is worth reading. It's a gleefully mad romp through the more ridiculous fringes of the Marvel Universe.

Comics Bulletin - 3.5/5 & 4/5
Containing several laughs out loud moments and a fun twist or six Deadpool breaks a boundary that constrains most American comics in general and superhero comics in particular… the comedic boundary.

ign - 7.5/10
This book not only provides a much-needed breath of fresh air within a crowded field of Secret Invasion also-rans, but also seems geared to become a constant source of amusement for the foreseeable future.

The Fanboy Review - 4.5/5
This book is good. Really good.

ComicNewsi - 3/5
It can take some time for a writer to become comfortable with a new characterʼs voice and Deadpool has a very unusual voice. There was some definite growth in this second issue and I have hopes for the future. It is certainly good to see Deadpool back in his own monthly title. Hopefully he will have a long, long run.

The Q Review - 8.5/10
It's a rare mix of raw entertainment, genuine substance and timely relevance, not to mention something you really ought to see for yourself. Buy it. It's a blast.

TechNews
Buy it if you can find it!

Carlo Barberi Drawing Deadpool 4 & 5

As previously reported, the December solicitations from Marvel listed Carlo Barberi as the artist for Deadpool #5. Further confusion was had when Barberi posted sample pages of Deadpool #1 on his deviantART page. The Deadpool Bugle has confirmed that Barberi will be the artist for Deadpool issues #4 and #5, but will not be the ongoing artist on the series. The pages he posted were only a sample.

"Yes, those where sample pages.
I'm drawing issue 4 and 5.
Paco is still the regular penciler for what I know.
They call me because the book was a little behind.
And thats it.

New Interview With Daniel Way About Deadpool #1

Marvel.com has posted a new interview with Daniel Way about Deadpool's actions in Deadpool #1 that came out September 10, 2008. The interview does give some spoilers about the issue, so if you haven't read the issue yet then hold off on the interview.
Way discusses the events, and gives some hints that there is a method to Deadpool's madness and we will have to wait and see the reason for his actions. At the end of the interview Way also teases that the next story arc will feature Deadpool fighting zombies, but no other hints or information. [SOURCE - CONTAINS SPOILERS]

Deadpool #1 Sells Out

Marvel.com has just reported that Deadpool #1 that came out last week on 9/10/2008 has sold out. There will be a second printing with a variant cover by Paco Medina. The second printing will be out on 10/15/2008. [SOURCE]

New Artist on Deadpool #5?

Marvel just released the December solicitations for comics, and included is Deadpool #5. What is confusing about this solicitation is that it lists the penciler of the issue to be Carlo Barberi, not regular artist Paco Medina. Barberi's deviantART page reveals a sample Deadpool page, from what appears to be a scene from Deadpool #1. There is no confirmation if he is the new ongonig artist, or if he will just be filling in for one issue.

Also adding to the confusion with this issue is that the solicitation calls the issue " "HORROR BIZNESS," Part 2 (of 2)", while on Marvel.com it describes issue #4 as " “SAY ‘HI’ TO THE BAD GUY,” PART 1 (OF 2)". Marvel usually updates their catalog page shortly after solicitations, so stay tuned to the Deadpool Bugle for updates. The Deadpool Bugle has also contacted Carlo Barberi to try and get further clarification. [SOURCE]

UPDATE: Marvel.com has updated their December catalog and it has the same information that the December solicitations contained. The Deadpool Bugle is still trying confirm the information.

Deadpool in Weapon X: First Class #2

Marvel has just released their December comic solicitations has confirmed that Deadpool will appear in Weapon X: First Class #2 this December. It was previously reported that Deadpool would appear in the series, but it was unclear what issue or capacity he would appear in. Weapon X: First Class is primarily focused on Wolverine, but the issues will also contain shorter back stories featuring other Weapon X characters such as Deadpool. From the solicitation: " PLUS: A warped tour of the Weapon X facility, as seen through the eyes of everyone's favorite Merc-with-a-Mouth -- DEADPOOL! "Weapon X: First Class #2 is written by Marc Sumerak with art by Mark Robinson & Tim Seeley and will be out in December. [SOURCE]

Deadpool #1 Reviews

Deadpool Bugle reader Tom has compiled a list of reviews for Deadpool #1 from around the web. Overall the issue was well received.

Comics Bulletin - 3.5/5 & 4/5
After much anticipation, Deadpool is back! And he's as stupid and psychotic as ever. Just the way you love him.

Comics Nexus - 8/10
It’s by no means the same Deadpool as Joe Kelly, Gail Simone, and Fabian Nicieza haven given us, but how many other writers nail it quite like they do? And I mean nail any character like they do. Those are big shoes to fill, but Way is already making a mark. One issue and I’ve already got high expectations.

Nerdage
The truth is, this issue, penned by Daniel Way with art by Paco “Funky Cold” Medina, isn’t long on story. But it is long on awesome. It’s funny. The art is great. It’s funny. Also, there’s a funniness about it. A funosity.

Review Busters - 10/10
If you love Deadpool as much as me then you better pick this issue up. New readers also need to pick this up too!

ign - 7.3/10
This first issue works as expected. There are some Skrulls. There is a Deadpool. He kills things while making nonsensical quips along the way. That basically sums it up, but it helps that the series never pretends to be anything other than a mindless action series.

Comic Pants
So really, while Way and Medina aren’t reinventing the wheel here, what they are doing is providing a nicely done comedy/action book that’s certainly worth a look.

Broken Frontier
Combined with Skrull profanity, hallucinations of Skrull autograph hunters and the Merc’s brazen attack (which includes jumping on top of the ship), this issue has enough mirth-inducing moments to remind faithful fans why they fell in love with Deadpool in the first place—and to create new fans at the same time.

Weekly Comic Book Review - B
I strongly urge all Marvel fans to at least give Deadpool #1 a look. The book does a nice job reintroducing a fan-favorite to the masses, and the it’s refreshing and unique despite the fairly predictable Secret Invasion framework.

Wizard
Funny, irreverent and topical all at the same time, Deadpool is worth diving into head first, for both Way's crisp, comedic capers and Medina's kinetic visuals.

If Destroyed, Still True
It's not horrible - the comic timing's quite good, there are a few amusing moments - but it doesn't have the inventiveness to get by on comedy value alone.

Newsarama
Daniel Way and Paco Medina are ready to take the reins of the Merc-With-A-Mouth. They clearly showed up to play with this first issue, and at a good start, they have a good chance of going straight to the top

comiXtreme - 3.5/5
I expected to be disappointed, and I’m not really. It’s not thrilling, or laugh-out-loud hilarious, but it shows promise.

TechNews
And though the plot is fairly simple, the book maintains a fast pace and features a great reveal at the end that promises an exciting future for this series.

Verdict: Buy it!
