SDCC 2009: Daniel Way on Deadpool in X-Men Panel
Marvel has a live blog covering the X-Men Panel at the 2009 San Diego ComicCon. The panel is currently ongoing, but so far Way has had this to say:
Deadpool 900: lots of stuff coming up. We have been going for a year. The first story arc is wrapping up. he gets paid, and gets what he wants (he is the best).
What does he do now? Does he still exist? (he doesnt). So now the next year's worth, his next challenge is to be one of the good guys. And he doesnt know how to do that, so he has to learn. He tries to join the X-Men. It doesnt go well.
Can he be a hero at this point? Or does he have too much bad history? can he use that skillset? Lots of explosions!
In the next arc he is gonna find out that the hero biz isnt as easy as he thought. His reaction will be interesting.

Deadpool #12 Reviews

Thanks again to Tom for collecting these reviews!
Comic Book Review - 7/10
"Overall this storyline was entertaining, amusing, daft - this issue lacked the inventiveness of a 'meat suit' and the humour was maybe a little too dark - that ending was either really really dark humour or just plain bizarre. "
Comic-per-Day Reviews
"This isn't a groundbreaking book, but it keeps DP looking tough and lets him bounce around the Marvel U and into some unique guest stars. That's pretty much what I want from a Deadpool comic."
IGN - 7.8/10
"But as mentioned, this issue never fully takes off thanks to the relatively lackluster humor. There is funny to be had here, but Way begins to slide back into the rut of relying too much on Deadpool's dual monologue for comedy."
The HomeWorld - B+
"Deadpool #12 is a great end to the Deadpool v.s. “Hawkeye” arc. Within you’ll find a really fun book that will have you pulled in until the infamous last page. After that, you’ll just find yourself scratching your head wondering what you just saw."
ComicVine - 4/5
"I never thought I would be a Deadpool fan, but this is so well written... I recommend it -- 4 out of 5."
Panels on Pages - 5/5
"I loved this issue, maddening though it may have been, and Paco Medina’s art has truly never looked better."
Those We Left Behind
"Okay, so there is no meat suit or arrow through the head, but this wrap up of the Bullseye vs Deadpool story ends as it began - quirky, funny, immediately forgettable."

Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #1 Reviews

Huge thanks to Tom for collecting the following review of Deadpool: Merc With A Mouth #1.
Comic Book Resources - 1.5/5
"When “Merc with a Mouth” was announced, various online commentators remarked on how unnecessary a second Deadpool title is and this debut issue does nothing to quell those opinions."
IGN - 6.4/10
"Deadpool: Merc with a Mouth #1 is hardly the worst Deadpool story I've ever read, but nor does it include quite the level of amusement one would expect. In this very crowded Deadpool market, any new project is going to have to work quickly to prove its merit. Hopefully Gischler has something more up his sleeve for issue #2."
Banana Syrup Company
"Gischler and Deadpool Dancin till the the end of time and go go going until the Apocalypse—or at least 5 more issues. Sweet Muzak to my ears."
iFanboy
"Gischler believes that Deadpool's humor just comes from throwing him in a silly situation and saying random crazy things, which is a real shame, because this character deserves better than that. Thank god that Way is writting Deadpool properly, I would hate for this to be the only book that shows off one of my favorite characters."
Graham Crackers - 9/10
"Fun doesn’t even begin to describe this book. I've never even heard of this writer or artist, but they make an awesome team! As do Deadpool and just about anyone he runs across. And, in the Savage Land, that's quite the cast of characters. This issue has an ening that I still don't believe. I mean real, Grade-A, spit-take material, here people. If you have eyes, I highly recommend it! If you don't have eyes, sorry. But you should get someone to read this to you."
The Pull List Comic Reviews - 8/10
"...this has been one of his best showings since splitting up with Cable from their fifty issue run as a buddy comic. Though Deadpool may not ever be a top character, having to compete against those who have a much more storied history than his like Captain America or Spider-Man, he is credited to having a rabid fan base who continue to eat up anything involving the character. This issue is pretty much cocaine for those followers with its throwbacks to what made them love Deadpool in the first place."
If Destroyed, Still True: The X-Axis
"(T)he comedy works - lots of good dialogue, and Dazo pulls off the visual gags effectively - which is really the bottom line here. It's entertaining."
ComicBookClub (starts at 3:46)
"Daniel Way is doing an amazing job of writing Deadpool, so this is a little different. I feel like is still has the tone of Deadpool, but it's not as great as Daniel Way right now, so it kinda pulls me out of it a little."
